You currently have a man named chuck nelson who has gone through your training and is a volunteer at Su Casa. I am living with and plan to marry his daughter. Last night he sent us a threatening email because a creditor of his daughter had contacted him by phone. We wrote him an apology, stated the man was incorrect and we would talk to the company so that he would not be bothered, and that we would do all we could but we had no control over them just control over ourselves and our behaviour. He wrote a scathing email back calling our email BS and this no control over them BS. This man should not be around abused people because he is abusive to his own daughter. She cried last night and again today over his emails. If you think I'm angry, you are correct. But anyone who could lack the compassion or sensitivity to deal with an inconvenient phone call certainly hasn't benefitted from you trainging program. If you would like copies of his emails and further information regarding his behaviour and history of behaviour, please contact me. I plan to send a detailed letter along with the emails to the Board of Directors, and each Director of Su Casa to protect those individuals who seek out your services from this abusive man.

I am an experienced human services worker with 21 years with LA County Public Social Services Dept. A former victim of spousal abuse for ten years of "hell" myself I finally got the courage to take my kids and get out. I divorced him in 1978. Memories of the horrors I went through still chill my bones. With time and therapy for myself and my kids we got past the trauma and discovered healing, hope and healthy boundaries. My kids now grown and off work with a work related arthritic condition that limits my mobility and endurance, I am no longer able to work, so I am home most of the time alone, feeling bad because a part of me needs to be a helper.... Perhaps, I could offer my problem solving skills, experience with the volumnous paper work that must be completed to access public funds, which intensifies the anxiety level of a person in crisis to the point of discouraging them further. Allow me to lend an empathetic ear, unsheeth an experienced bureau pen and walk her through the process of making application for welfare 101. I can't give a lot of time and my illness makes my availability irregular. But what I am able to do I am willing to do voluntarily.
